The geography of extremes that characterizes Chile and the connection of its people with nature are the key concepts of a new country pavilion presented today, which will be used in the more than 60 international fairs in which the country is present each year.
Chile is today a country with a vision of the future, which has a diverse and quality offer, and which takes on the challenges of sustainability that the world demands" Rossana Dresdner, executive director of Fundación Imagen de Chile.
The new design made its official debut at SIAL Paris, the world's leading food industry trade fair, which is being held in the French capital between October 19 and 23. Chile is represented by 33 companies supported by ProChile, an institution that coordinated the realization of the new design together with the Fundación Imagen de Chile and the Civil Society Council, which incorporates unions and companies, together with public bodies that represent the country in this type of events abroad.
"It is essential for our country image to have a unique design and a coherent narrative when presenting ourselves at international business fairs," said ProChile's Director General, Ignacio Fernández. "These events in which we have a presence every year are global meeting points for the different industries, and function as real showcases for Chile to showcase its offer of exportable products and services. This new pavilion gives us a design that is visible from a distance, with the representation of the Andes Mountains, and promotes an easily identifiable, competitive and unified country image, which promotes the idea that we are a reliable trading partner for the world".
The executive director of the Fundación Imagen de Chile (FICH), Rossana Dresdner, said that "Chile is today a country with a vision of the future, with a diverse and quality offer, and that takes on the challenges of sustainability that the world demands. We are a responsible and reliable country, with very distinctive characteristics. That is what we wanted to transmit with the new pavilion at SIAL in Paris. He also emphasized that the new design "is a concrete example of how we are working together to strengthen Chile's presence and image in the most competitive international markets".
The design of the pavilion was entrusted to the firm DAW Diseño & Arquitectura through a public bidding process. Under the concept "looking beyond our limits", the visual proposal stands out for the use of the mountain range, which allows the Chilean presence to be identified from a distance and become a meeting point for those attending international fairs. Likewise, its modular structure facilitates assembly, disassembly and transportation, with a focus on the reusability of the elements and sustainability.
The new design has already been tested in a white run that spanned a series of international trade fairs throughout this year, including the Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, Spain, and the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Bologna, Italy.
Chile at SIAL in Paris
At SIAL 2024, which celebrates 60 years of history, Chile is present in Hall 8 of the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte, with three islands totaling 472 square meters. In this space will be present 30 companies producing almonds, walnuts, dried plums, raisins, hazelnuts, cranberries and dried cherries, which are among the main foods that the country sends to Europe.
Meanwhile, in Hall 4, dedicated to food innovation, three other Chilean companies will showcase their offer of nutritional and low-glycemic bars, truffles, walnut oil and walnut flour, in a 50 square meter stand.
"SIAL Paris is an essential showcase for the global food industry, and it is very relevant for Chile to be showing its position as a global supplier of healthy, safe and sustainably produced food," said ProChile's commercial attaché in France, Óscar Troncoso. "Our country has the capacity to produce fresh fruits, dehydrated fruits and vegetables at the European counter-season, thanks to its diversity of soils and climates. This makes it a key trading partner in the food sector," he added.
In addition to the food products on display at SIAL, the country will also offer pisco tastings, in the context of the Pisco: First Spirit campaign, which seeks to increase exports of the distillate produced in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions. Likewise, those attending Chile's pavilions will be able to taste fresh salmon and frozen mussels from the country.
