Chile decrees its first National Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

The Chilean Parliament approved on Thursday a bill that declares for the first time in history the National Day of Indigenous Peoples, at a time when the demands of indigenous peoples are in the public debate more than ever.

By 124 votes in favor and only one against, the Chamber of Deputies gave the green light to the bill that establishes that this year the holiday will be on June 21, but from 2022 it will depend on the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere.
