In the first nine months of 2024, the forestry and livestock trade balance reached USD 8,854 million, an important increase of 21% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) reported that in January-September forestry and agricultural exports amounted to USD 15.215 billion, an increase of 10% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The main destination countries, in order of importance, were China (31%), USA (21%), Japan (4%), Mexico (4%), Netherlands (4%), South Korea (4%), Brazil (4%), Colombia (2%).
Andrea García, director of Odepa, pointed out that "it is positively noteworthy that shipments of industrial forestry and livestock products grew by 7% compared to the previous year, totaling US$ 8,177 million during this year's period. The share of sectoral industrial products was 54%".
In the first nine months, agricultural shipments totaled USD 9,903 million, up 12%. Livestock shipments totaled USD 1.239 billion, up 4.9%. Forestry shipments amounted to USD 4,073 million, an increase of 8.9%. All variations are compared to the same period of 2023.
In January-September 2024, the main exported items were fresh fruits and nuts; cellulose; wines and spirits; processed fruits; processed wood; meats and by-products; sawn wood; wood chips; seeds for sowing; dairy products; processed vegetables; fresh vegetables; flowers, bulbs, tubers and plants; honey.
