This new action seeks to show how Chile's cultural heritage has inspired the world, through different milestones that collect the works of recognized national talents from the world of culture and the arts.
The match between Chile and Paraguay will not remain just a sporting contest. During the traditional exchange of pennants between the captains of the rival teams, the leader of the national team, Claudio Bravo, attracted attention with his pennant because of the message printed on it.
"Chile, or a will to be" were the words that were read on the Chilean banner, a verse of the renowned Nobel Prize in Literature Gabriela Mistral. This action is part of the campaign "Chile: creativity that inspires the world", promoted by Imagen de Chile, which seeks to show, through different instances, how Chile's cultural heritage has impacted the world.
This milestone, which will be replicated in future Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers, will add excerpts from the works of Pablo Neruda and Nicanor Parra in upcoming matches.
"This exchange of pennants with poems by some of the most renowned literary creators of our country has a very symbolic purpose. Those pennants will fly with the other selections to their countries, representing how Chilean culture has crossed borders around the world, from the creativity, sensitivity and talent of the people who inhabit our country, showing how Chile inspires the world," said the executive director of Imagen de Chile, Constanza Cea.
"This project seeks to bring the world closer to Chile, from the field of culture, based on literary talent and to share the creativity that has marked and impacted different generations internationally," added Constanza Cea.
"La Roja, like Gabriela Mistral, Pablo Neruda or Nicanor Parra among other great poets, is part of the essence of our country. This initiative shows the talent, richness and diversity of our people and our territory," said the president of the Chilean Football Federation, Pablo Milad.
The campaign, which will begin with actions related to the works of poets Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and Nicanor Parra, will be officially launched in the coming weeks, incorporating the work of different actors in the world of arts and culture, with an international scope that will seek to show how Chilean creative talent has crossed generational, cultural and geographical barriers, with a relevant role in the creation of the future.
This campaign is part of the "Chile Creando Futuro" strategy, promoted by Imagen de Chile since a year ago, which seeks to show Chile from the creativity and talent of Chileans. If Chile was previously recognized abroad for its landscapes and nature, now it is recognized for its people and the talent that we have from this corner of the world to contribute in the most diverse areas, such as sports and culture.
