The most recent Chilean Pride Study, prepared by Fundación Imagen de Chile in conjunction with the international consulting firm IPSOS, registered unprecedented figures in the perception of national pride. According to the measurement, 57% of those surveyed declare feeling a high level of pride in Chile, the highest figure since the beginning of the study in 2019.

Likewise, in the category "Pride in being Chilean", the index reached 70%, an increase of seven points over the previous year.

The research, which this year incorporated new questions on country positioning attributes, collected more than 3,200 surveys nationwide, allowing to contrast the perception of Chileans with the vision of international audiences.

Historical figures

Although the 2023 version of this research also delivered a high figure for the "Pride in Chile" indicator (46%), this was mostly attributed to the successful staging of the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

However, the 2024 measurement yielded unprecedented results. When asked the question: "On a scale of 1 to 7, how proud are you of Chile?", 57% of respondents answered with scores of 6 and 7, reflecting a high level of pride and an 11% increase over the previous year. Indeed, this increase in pride in Chile is the highest recorded since the study began.

On the other hand, for the question: "On a scale of 1 to 7, how proud are you to be Chilean?", 70% responded with numbers between 6 and 7, only 1% less than its historical maximum. It should be noted that since February 2021, the "Pride in Being Chilean" has followed an upward trend until today.

Factors explaining this increase

The study showed that certain attributes in different areas generate more pride than others. For example, "Geography and diversity of natural beauties" is the one that generates more pride with 87%, followed by "privileged skies for astronomy" with 81.7% and, in third place, "quality of export products" with 72%.

It is worth noting that, at the same time, attributes related to democracy, sustainability, science and technology have shown a sustained increase over time, reaching their highest records in the last measurement. In this context, Chile's pride in "its system of democratic elections" reached 56% of responses with a high level of pride. Similarly, "development of science and technology" and "commitment to the environment" obtained 52% and 46%, respectively.

Dimensions influencing Chilean pride

The Chilean Pride Survey consists of 42 questions evaluated on a scale of 1 to 7. To simplify the large number of variables and group them into more representative factors, a multivariate principal component analysis model was applied. As a result, five key dimensions were identified which, together, explain 64.2% of the perception of Chile's Image according to Chileans themselves.

Thus, the five dimensions were: Governance and Democracy, Tourism, Culture, Innovation and Technology, and Sustainability. Of the latter, Governance and Democracy (37%), Tourism (22%) and Culture (18%) were the dimensions of Country Image with the greatest impact on Chile's pride.

Finally, the positive results of this measurement are also reflected in the international rankings of Country Image. Thus, Chile ranked 54th in the Global Soft Power Index 2025, climbing five places with respect to the previous year and valuing its brand at more than US$ 280 billion. On the other hand, the country reached 38th place in the Anholt Nation Brand Index, the highest since 2020.
